‘Tis the season for giving…and, in some cases, for getting gifts you never asked for.
And while the gifts you send your clients may not rival the ugly Christmas sweaters your great aunt sent you as a kid, this year make sure you’re giving gifts your customers actually want — preferably ones that don’t increase your carbon footprint.
In the spirit of giving great gifts this holiday season, here are 10 things your customers definitely didn’t ask for this year…plus a few ideas for making their holidays brighter.
1.) Another Boring Zoom Call
It’s safe to say we’re all ready for a long break from Zoom. But if it’s still not possible to meet in person, try making your next Zoom call a little more fun by sending your client a coffee gift card ahead of time with a note saying, “I wish we could meet for coffee in person, but for now this will have to do.” Or have lunch delivered before your meeting so you can enjoy a bite to eat together while you Zoom.
2.) A Data Breach
Compromised data from the improper disposal of IT assets could definitely ruin your client’s holiday season. Many companies know to protect their digital assets, but protecting their physical IT assets is just as important. With our focus on data security and our guaranteed physical destruction and electronic sanitization processes, Tech Dump can help mitigate these risks.
3.) Too Many Open Positions Due to Labor Shortages
If your clients have open positions they’re struggling to fill, consider introducing them to our friends at Black Tech Talent. Black Tech Talent works to increase the talent pool of Black technologists by curating job opportunities, resources, and culturally specific content. Check them out — you may just find your next great employee!
4.) Stale Fruit Cake Delivered to the Office When They’ve Gone Remote
Stale fruit cake is no one’s favorite no matter where it’s delivered, but the last thing you want is for your holiday gift to go to waste because you sent it to the wrong place.
Many offices are still working remotely, and some have gotten rid of their office locations entirely. Before you send out client gifts this year, double-check to make sure your client is actually using their office location or if there’s a better address to send it to.
Once you’ve double-checked that address, send something tastier than stale fruit cake with cookies from this fantastic local company.
5.) Another Impersonal Holiday Card
Did you know that in the U.S. we mail approximately 1.3 billion holiday cards each year? This results in CO2 emissions equivalent to charging 22 billion smartphones or the yearly energy usage of 22,000 homes. All for something that ends up in the recycling bin after the holiday season is over. (And did you know that cards with glitter can’t even be recycled?!?) Yikes.
Instead of adding to the environmental impact of mailing paper cards, this year try sending your clients personalized ecards. Or grab their attention and make them laugh with a fun video ecard!
6.) Supply Chain Issues
Supply chain issues have been the bane of our collective existence this year (or one of them, at least).
But we have good news on that front — our retail division, Tech Discounts, can help with hardware repairs or refurbished electronics purchases. With a wide selection of office computer systems and parts, we can help keep your clients outfitted with electronics without having to wait for a shipping container to come off the boat.
7.) A Delayed or Canceled Flight
Ok, so there isn’t much we can do to help with this one. But you could give your clients a laugh with a funny email that includes a list of your favorite “stuck in the airport” books or magazines and a note saying “We hope you don’t get stuck in the airport during your holiday travels, but in case you do, make sure you have some great reading material on hand!”
Even better, consider gifting them an online subscription to an industry publication so they can stay up-to-date no matter where they are.
8.) A Bunch of Branded Swag They Will Never Use
You know that branded swag that companies send out — logoed pens, mugs, can koozies, and so on? Sure they can be a fun way to promote your company, but did you know that most people hang onto such promotional products for less than a year? Ultimately, they end up in a landfill.
Rather than adding to the plastic pollution generated by swag, try something new for your clients this year, such as:
Opting for more sustainable promotional items
Making a charitable donation in your client’s name
Planting a tree to show your appreciation for their business
Not only are these options better for the planet, they stand out from the typical swag every other company sends out.
9.) A New COVID Variant
This is an unwanted gift that, unfortunately, we can’t do much about (we wish we could!). But while we can’t control the impact of Omicron, we can continue to wish for good health for us all in 2022.
10.) An Overrun Office Storage Closet Filled With Unused IT Equipment
It happens. In the day-to-day bustle of doing business and keeping up with new technology, old IT equipment can pile up. The good news is, Tech Dump can clear out your clients’ surplus equipment in a jiff, and our ITAD services can help keep those closets cleaned out as they make upgrades to their tech.
If you’d like to learn more about how Tech Dump’s ITAD services can benefit your clients and make your job as a managed service provider easier, give us a call at 763.432.3117.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Tech Dump!
